Meet Blu

Blu Phoenix Support, LLC was founded with a singular mission: to stand beside those who serve. We exist to provide compassionate, experienced support to first responders and their families as they navigate the emotional toll of a demanding and often traumatic career. Our founder, John “Blu” Blumenthal, is a retired Master Sergeant with the Oklahoma City Police Department, where he served honorably for 24.5 years. Throughout his tenure, Blu worked in a wide range of divisions—from Patrol and Motors to the undercover IMPACT unit, the Training Center, and the Wellness Unit. His experience on the front lines and behind the scenes provided him with a unique perspective on the mental and emotional demands placed on officers.Blu's commitment to officer wellness is deeply personal. His career was marked by profound loss, including the tragic deaths of his partner, Officer Jeff Rominger, and Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Matt Evans in 2000; the loss of Sgt. Jonathan Dragus in 2005; and Recruit Officer Kelley Chase during training in 2012. These events—alongside personal challenges, trauma, and adversity—shaped Blu’s unwavering dedication to supporting those in uniform.Since 2005, Blu has been a certified peer support specialist and has completed Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) training through ICISF. His approach is rooted in both lived experience and formal education, offering a powerful blend of empathy, credibility, and actionable support. At Blu Phoenix Support, we believe that healing is possible and that strength can rise from struggle. Blu now shares his journey to help officers and their families process trauma, reconnect with their purpose, and build healthier, more resilient lives—on and off duty.We are here to support the heroes who serve. You are not alone.
